- Print out an FTGOC Flyer! (PDF) -- Print out many! Pass them around!
- Adopt-A-Supermarket! -- Put the pressure on your neighborhood supermarket to offer more Fair Trade products.
- Offer any in-kind products or services to further the local Fair Trade movement.
- BUY FAIR TRADE
- Start a Fair Trade Group on your campus or in your school.
- Ask supermarkets, cafes, restaurants and your local retailers if they carry or serve Fair Trade. Request them to offer a Fair Trade alternative.
FTGOC Action Groups
Below is a list of Fair Trade Action Groups to be part of to make a difference. Each
Action Groups meets monthly. Projects are coordinated jointly. The Action Groups work on their own projects and work together to make the
Fair Trade Movement in Orlando BIGGER, BETTER, BADDER!

CAMPAIGN / LOBBYING :
Establish grassroots organizing efforts to work with the City Council to pass a Fair Trade Resolution. Such grassroots actions
include canvassing to get signatures from the community supporting the petition. One of the main goals of this Action Group is to continue coalition-building
efforts. This Action Group works to reach out to various civic groups, activist groups, businesses and religious institutions in an effort to have them join the
Coalition and support Fair Trade and the Fair Trade Resolution.
This Action Group works closely with other Action Groups during all events educating the community about the Campaign / Lobbying arm of
FTGOC. This Action Group
actively seeks volunteers to assist in canvassing, direct mailing, communicating with Coalition Partners and working on
other lobbying efforts. |

DEVELOPMENT / FUNDRAISING :
This Action Group serves two functions. The development aspect is meant to establish overall goals and long-term projects for FTGOC. The second
function relates to fundraising efforts. This Action Group seeks creative and innovative methods for funding all FTGOC activities. This
Action Group maintains the budget for FTGOC activities and ensures its operations are funded and coordinated properly.
This Action Group maintains communication with other Action Groups regarding their respective activities and ensuring each Action Group is moving forward in accordance
with FTGOC’s vision and goals. Furthermore, this Action Group ensures that all Action Groups are made aware of all Action Group activities and
works with other Action Groups on budget issues.

EVENT COORDINATING :
FTGOC will organize and host two principle events annually – World Fair Trade Day and an event for
Fair Trade Month in October. This Action Group works to develop event ideas and organize the events. This Action Group also helps with events and
outreach projects spearheaded by the Public Outreach and Student Outreach
Action Groups.
This Action Group works closely with other Action Groups to make all FTGOC events successful. This Action Group actively seeks volunteers to assist
in the preparation and organizing of upcoming events.

MEDIA / PUBLIC RELATIONS :
This Action Group serves two functions. One aspect is creating promotional/educational materials for outreach projects conducted by fellow FTGOC
Action Groups. This also includes working on and maintaining the website and creating and updating material for the website with graphic, designs, and other
information.
The second aspect of this Action Group relates to the direct involvement with the media. This Action Group actively works on providing information about
Fair Trade and FTGOC to the radio, print, and television media. This Action Group ensures that the media and the community
are constantly aware of all FTGOC events and activities.
This Action Group works closely with other Action Groups in preparing for upcoming events and activities. This Action Group actively seeks volunteers to assist in
creating educational material and graphic design for print and the website as well as seeking individuals to work on direct media outreach such as press
releases, media kits, etc.

PUBLIC OUTREACH:
The function of this Action Group is to hold monthly – bi-monthly venues to educate the public about Fair Trade and prepare materials specific
to educational efforts. The tasks also include reaching out to the public via direct mailing and direct calling seeking opportunities to inform businesses,
schools and other community groups about Fair Trade. This Action Group seeks opportunities to participate in local festivals and other community
events.
This Action Group works closely with other Action Groups during events, public awareness events and special events educating the community about FTGOC
activities and Fair Trade. This Action Group actively seeks volunteers to assist in public speaking engagements, direct mailing, creating educational
material and tabling at local events and festivals.

STUDENT OUTREACH :
This Action Group works directly with local schools and universities in educating them about Fair Trade. The main function of this Action Group is
to help schools and universities establish Fair Trade programs, providing them with materials necessary to educate their schools and groups.
This Action Group will help schools develop models that can be implemented to establish Fair Trade campaigns, establish Fair Trade
groups as well as models for incorporating Fair Trade education in the classroom. This Action Group also works to establish FTGOC campus chapters
and liaise with Chapter leaders on overall Fair Trade campaign.
This Action Group works closely with other Action Groups in establishing public speaking engagements, and involving student groups in events and campaign efforts.
This Action Group actively seeks volunteers to assist in setting up programs for school groups and FTGOC Chapters in local colleges and universities.
